Acting Like We've Been There Before

Dave Aiello wrote, "Season's Greetings from everyone at Chatham Township Data Corporation. At the end of 2003, I was talking about some real progress toward the goal of changing CTDATA's business model. I'm happy to report that the changes that began at the end of 2003 have produced the first truly profitable quarter since the third quarter of 2001."

"CTDATA's main business drivers today are publishing, where OperationGadget.com was read by about 125,000 unique visitors in December, and consulting, where WeblogImprovement.com successfully launched in November and completed two successful projects for clients before the end of the year."

"These businesses are producing a cash flow which can sustain CTDATA for the foreseeable future while we continue to invest in content development and advertising designed to bring in more consulting clients."

Dave Aiello continued:

We are continuing the process of migrating our Internet services to a more standardized, efficient hosting platform. We expect this process to be completed in January and to allow us to seek profitable hosting business for the time in recent memory.

I've never lacked for interesting work at CTDATA, but at times over the last two years it's been hard to be optimistic about the company's future. Today, the situation is different. I'm hoping that the success we experienced in the fourth quarter is the spark we need to bring the company back to the profitability for the full year in 2005.

There's a quote attributed to Paul Brown, a legendary football coach and member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame: "When you reach the end zone, act like you've been there before."

This is an important thought for me as 2005 begins. CTDATA has succeeded before. Previous successes didn't look like the success that we experienced in 2004, but the initial stages of success in previous periods of strength seemed unusual or unlikely at the time. I hope that the opportunities I'm seeing today are as lucrative as the ones we took advantage of this past year.

I'd like to take a moment to thank our clients for helping CTDATA succeed in 2004. I hope that our company has added value to your businesses. Thanks to our partners at other companies who helped CTDATA significantly in 2004:

  • Martin O'Donnell
  • Ed Anuff
  • Chris McCarthy
  • Charlie Schiro

I'd also like to say a special word of thanks to my wife, Dr. Kathleen Aiello, who has been particularly supportive and understanding when tough decisions have had to be made over the past two years.

On behalf of our little company, I want to extend best wishes to our customers and all of the readers of our website. We hope that 2005 is a wonderful year for all of us, in our personal and business lives. CTDATA is still here to serve you. If we can help you to build a better weblog, web-based application, or e-commerce website, please let us know.

Best wishes to you and your family during this holiday season.
